ABOUT ME
I am a licensed clinical social worker and family therapist for over three decades. In addition to maintaining a private practice where I see couples, individuals and families, I ran a consultation program at The Jewish Board, a large mental health agency in New York City for 15 years. The program was called Learning Resource Network and parents and professionals called me with questions about learning and child development. I am an expert in the world of disabilities having parented a developmentally disabled child into adulthood where he is able to live an independent life with minimal supports.
For the past five years, I shifted my focus and became the family therapist at an eating disorder program for adolescents called Back Country Wellness. Parenting a child with an eating disorder is overwhelming and frightening. In order to help their child overcome this disorder, it is essential for parents to present a consistent message and set boundaries while remaining compassionate and loving - no easy feat.
I am also of an age where I have experienced first hand the challenges of raising children to adulthood and becoming an empty nester. Marriage is not an easy institution and we have all experienced difficult chapters. I continue to work with couples whose marriages have hit bumps in the road and they are questioning whether they have a future together.
